Autor se u radu bavi različitim tumačenjima pojma genocida, prikazujući njegovo značenje prema Konvenciji o sprečavanju i kažnjavanju zločina genocida iz 1948. godine, kao i tumačenja u slučajevima koji su raspravljani pred Međunarodnim krivičnim tribunalom za bivšu Jugoslaviju, a koji se zasnivaju na finalnom izveštaju Šerifa Basiunija u kom je on razvio koncept "lokalnog genocida", koji je, iako nema uporište u pomenutoj Konvenciji, postao osnovni izvor optužbi za genocide.
