Submission of papers
Journal Crimen takes publication malpractice seriously and defines it as any unethical behavior that undermines the integrity of the publication process. The following actions are considered violations of ethical standards:
Plagiarism:
Plagiarism is the use of another person's work, ideas, or expressions without proper acknowledgment. This includes:
- Direct copying of text or data without citation.
- Paraphrasing without crediting the original source.
- Failing to acknowledge the contributions of collaborators or predecessors.
All submissions will be checked for plagiarism, and those found to contain plagiarized content will be rejected or retracted.
Duplicate Publication:
Submitting the same manuscript to multiple journals simultaneously, or publishing similar findings in different journals without proper citation, is prohibited. Authors must disclose any previous publications related to their submitted work.
Falsification of Data:
Manipulating research data or results to mislead readers is a severe breach of ethics. This includes:
- Altering images or datasets.
- Selectively reporting results to create a false narrative.
- Misrepresenting statistical analyses or methodologies.
Authorship Misrepresentation:
Listing individuals as authors who did not contribute significantly to the research, or excluding those who did, is unethical. Any disputes regarding authorship should be resolved before submission, and all contributors should be appropriately acknowledged.
Improper Review Practices:
Reviewers must uphold confidentiality and impartiality throughout the review process. Actions considered misconduct include:
- Using unpublished materials for personal advantage.
- Failing to provide a fair and objective evaluation.
- Engaging in biased reviews based on personal relationships or conflicts of interest.
Artificial Intelligence (AI)-Assisted Technology:
At submission, the author is required to disclose whether AI-assisted technologies were used in the production of the submitted work. Authors who use such technology are obliged to describe how they used it.
Retraction and Correction Policies:
If misconduct is suspected or confirmed, the journal reserves the right to retract articles. Retraction processes will follow COPE guidelines to ensure transparency. Corrections will be issued for minor errors as needed.
Consequences of Misconduct:
Allegations of misconduct will be investigated rigorously. Confirmed violations may result in:
- Retraction of published articles.
- Prohibition from future submissions to the journal.
- Notification to relevant institutions or authorities involved in research oversight.
By adhering to these comprehensive ethical standards, Journal Crimen aims to foster a culture of integrity, accountability, and respect in academic publishing, in line with COPE’s commitment to ethical research and publication practices. We are dedicated to promoting an ethical environment for all participants in the research and publication process.
